A 15th century Grade II listed coaching inn providing affordable and comfortable accommodation in the very heart of the historic City of Wells, Somerset.
The Crown is overlooked by the magnificent Wells Cathedral and the Bishops Palace, with its beautiful grounds and moat. The Crown’s central location makes a superb base to tour Wells and the many surrounding attractions in this wonderful part of Somerset.
Superb food served throughout the day, in Anton’s Bistrot and The Penn Bar, with something to suit every taste and budget.

Our comfortable bar looks out on to the heart of Wells Market Place making it the ideal meeting place.
Originally a separate inn, it was from an upper window here that William Penn, a Quaker who later gave his name to Pennsylvania USA (and our bar), preached to a crowd below in 1685.

The Crown has family rooms, with space for cots and fold away beds. We have high chairs, kids packs, toys and books to keep our younger customers entertained!

Anton's Bistrot is named after a local well-known cartoonist whose work regularly appeared in Punch magazine. Some of Anton's original drawings are on the walls of our restaurant, bar and lounge. There is more information about the artist above the fireplace in the lounge.

The Crown has been comfortably furnished in-keeping with its 15th century character.
All fifteen bedrooms are en-suite, with colour television, radio/alarm clocks and tea/coffee making facilities. We have four rooms available, with four poster beds at the front of the building.
